Abstract:
This novel centers around the Squirrel Hill neighborhood of Pittsburgh and the Squirrel Hill Cafe, affectionately referred to as "The Squirrel Cage." This place serves as a catalyst for Jacob's muddled journeys throughout the country and world and his immense reckoning with sense of place.

Urbesque

Catalog Number:
Book, Marvit, Moshe Zvi
Date:
2006
Edition:
1
Abstract:
Urbesque is a collection of short (in the sense that most, though not all, of the pieces are shorter than forty pages) fiction (because they are untrue except, of course, for the parts that are). The characters who populate these stories do not travel to India or hang out with matadors. They do, however, go to job fairs, make furniture, leave their swords in the lockers at work, write letters to the objects that surround them and take pictures of it all, years after the fact, to remind them not to forget. If, one day, a copy of Urbesque should appear unannounced on your doorstep, looking a little worse for wear, with whiskey on its breath, invite it in. Make room for it on your couch or bookshelf. Or, better yet, read it. - Abstract from Green Lantern website

The Archive: News from The Green Lantern

Catalog Number:
z.81.2
Date:
December 2006
Volume:
Vol. 2, No. 3
Abstract:
Words and art from current exhibitions at the Green Lantern Gallery, artist and curatorial statements, upcoming events, excerpts from upcoming works from the Green Lantern Press, guest pieces from other "culture workers" as well as text pieces based loosely around the theme of the current exhibition in collaboration with the artist. In this case, it's "Out of the Woods." "We ask, 'Is he out of the woods?' If they respond, '...not out of the woods yet,' it is a phrase that is often used as a nice way of saying 'not in the clear, but keep on hoping for the best.' This work is an attempt to explore 'the woods' as this state of danger, of nearness to death."
